NOS continues to send me bills after I cancelled my service.
I requested to cancel my service in December in the store in Tomar and they told me I needed to call. I called several times and they hung up on me several times. After confirmation of my cancellation request, I went back to the store. They said I needed to call again. After explaining this the second time on the phone, they assured me it would be ready to be cancelled and said that I would still need to pay through February! Fine I said.
Yet again, the store had no record of it upon my return, so I insisted it be cancelled immediately. Finally, I signed the papers to cancel my plan. My plan was for 33 euros per month, and they continue to send me a bill to pay 37 euros for the end of March.
My original contract was for 30 euros a month. The price was raised to 33, now, after paying the bill AFTER I cancelled I'm being charged 37??
THIS IS THEIR PATRONIZING RESPONSE THEY SENT:
Hello, Brandon.
The service cancellation date is correct. We received your request on January 31, so the service was canceled at the end of the billing cycle. To cancel in January, we would have needed to receive your request by January 20, but that didn’t happen.
If you have any other questions, please let us know. We're always here for you.
Thank you, and have a great weekend!
Ana M.
HOW TO CANCEL YOUR CONTRACT:
Once your contract period of one or two years has ended, go to the store and demand to cancel your contract.
They will insist that they cannot do it in the office, and that you have to call. This is a scam. If you call, they will keep running you through this process so they can continue billing you.
Be firm, and insist, and eventually they will grab a piece of paper that allows you to cancel.
Once you’ve cancelled, ask for the “livro de reclamações”. It’s a red book where you can file your complaint and explain how they went through great efforts to prevent you from ending your contract.
