I have a new SIM card with a DATA only contract.

How do I activate the SIM?

Hi. 
It's a post paid account.

 

I am going to use it in a 5G router.

 

I've tried putting the sim in a phone, but no success.

Thank you for your feedback. 

Since its a post paid, the card is already active as its delivered.

When you tried it in a smartphone, did it request a pin code? Did the card established a 4G connection?

I have the same problem - new data only SIM, post paid.  I have put it in iPhone but does not work as no internet access.  I have a full NOS signal but it seems card it not activated.  Do I need to activate it somehow?  Thank you.

We’re happy to help. For data-only SIM cards, manual activation by the customer is not required. Have you tried the mobile data SIM card in another device?

Thanks for your quick reply, I have tried the SIM in a wifi router, plus an iphone XR and iphone 14 - both show the following message:-

“Could not activate mobile data network

PDP authentication failure”

The message “PDP authentication failure” indicates that the SIM card is unable to authenticate the data connection on the network, which is usually related to the APN settings or the service activation status.

Given that you’ve already tested it on several devices, everything points to the issue being related to the SIM card or service.
